I love walking through a forest and especially where there are white birch trees. Whenever you look at a painting of a forest you see the lovely stand of trees, moss crawling over the rocks, ferns creating a prehistoric feel, and ravines running through it. I completed the painting and thought something was missing ——— the bugs. Thus, splat on the canvas surface.
